Ola Ink

PRIVACY

What Ola Ink stores, and for how long.

Ola Ink relays encrypted whole notes between devices. This page describes what the relay sees, what it never sees, and how long an unread note can sit there before it is deleted.

END-TO-END ENCRYPTION

Ola Ink never sees your note.

A note is encrypted on the sending device before it ever reaches Ola Ink, and decrypted only on a device you paired to receive it. Ola Ink's relay stores and routes opaque ciphertext: it sees account and device routing IDs, directory versions, encrypted record size, and delivery state — never plaintext strokes, text, filenames, or your .note file itself.

DATA RETENTION

How long Ola Ink keeps a note.

A note is deleted from the relay as soon as every device you sent it to has received it — usually within moments of the recipient opening their inbox.

If a note is not received by all of a recipient's devices, it is deleted automatically 14 days after you sent it, along with its encrypted content. There is no way to recover it after that, for support or otherwise, and there is no exception or extension to this window.

If you use more than one device — for example a Supernote and a Pi agent — and only one of them checks its inbox before day 14, the note is still removed for every device at day 14, including the one that never had a chance to receive it. Poll each paired device regularly if you don't want this to happen.

DEVICES AND ACCOUNTS

Usernames, devices, and account closure.

An Ola Ink username is a public delivery address, permanent once claimed: it cannot be renamed, transferred, released, or reused by another account, even after an account is closed. Pairing a new device (a Supernote, a browser, or a Pi agent) registers only that device's public key; its private key never leaves the device.
